The Best Live Show Today…Wednesday 7th November

Today is another huge chunk of aceness across London as sixteen-legged punk-funk wigout meisters !!! (Chk Chk Chk) hit Koko, indie critic darlings The National play Shepherds Bushs’ Empire and The Shins entertain the Apollo crowd in Hammersmith.

Beating all of these to the coveted ‘Best Live Show Today‘ title is Franco-German electro specialists Stereo Total whose “Paris to Berlin” LP has been one of my favourite underground selections of the year. Simultaneously suave and saucy they make great tunes in a similar mould to Miss Kittin / Peaches / Chicks on Speed… but with a strange 80s pop twist. They describe themselves as being 10% Amiga 8-bit sampling. For that reason alone go see ‘em, at Metro on Oxford Street, £10.
