Best Live Show Today…Thursday 1st November

Much more difficult choice today, quality gigs going on throughout London town including Animal Collective, Pet Shop Boys (as part of the WarChild thang at Brixton Academy) and PostPunk veteran Lydia Lunch as part of Wire magazine’s 25th celebrations.

However, the group I’ve picked tonight are a very special act from New Zealand that I have been LOVING recently. They are a boy/girl duet called The Brunettes and they make Spector-esque pop unheard since, well, Spector’s girl-group heyday. They’re playing at the Windmill in Brixton, a perfect little pubby venue, and it’s only a FIVER to get in as part of the “How Does It Feel To Be Loved” series of nights. If anyone is short of something to do tonight you could do so much worse than this. Go!
